Serving Our Students

The Lake Travis Education Foundation is committed to the students of the Lake Travis Independent School District. One of the ways that we support our students is by providing named scholarships that allow us to help them in their post-secondary journeys.

LTEF Administered Scholarships

Lake Travis Education Foundation Scholarships
The Lake Travis Education Foundation (LTEF) awards scholarships each year to students who embody, in spirit and deeds, the exemplary culture of the Lake Travis School District. This year, LTEF will reserve one of these for a student planning to attend a vocational or technical school.

Primrose Education Scholarship
The Primrose Schools of Lakeway and Bee Cave believe education should be positive, engaging, and joyful. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who embodies these characteristics.

This scholarship goes to a student:
  • A 2023 graduating Senior who will continue their studies in the field of Education or Child Development.
  • Ideally seeking Primrose graduates but all candidates will be considered.

Hawkins Foundation Men’s Soccer Scholarship
Bernalee Hawkins was a teacher for over 30 years, and her greatest joy was helping others continue their education. In fact, she enjoyed Lake Travis Education Foundation involvement in her retirement.

This scholarship continues her legacy of ongoing learning by giving preference to members of the Lake Travis High School men’s soccer team who intend to continue their education after graduation, whether at a college or university, or at a trade or vocational school.

Preference will be given to current well-rounded 2 year members of the LTHS Men’s Soccer team who have achieved strong academic results and exhibited leadership qualities while also devoting significant time and effort to their sport.

Preference will be given to current well-rounded 2 year members of the LTHS Model United Nations who have achieved strong academic results and exhibited leadership qualities while also devoting significant time and effort to Model United Nation activities.

Hawkins Foundation Scout Scholarship
Bernalee Hawkins was a teacher for over 30 years, and her greatest joy was helping others continue their education. In fact, she enjoyed Lake Travis Education Foundation involvement in her retirement.

This scholarship continues her legacy of ongoing learning by giving preference Boy Scouts or Girl Scouts who have achieved the highest ranks in Scouting, and who intend to continue their education after graduation, whether at a college or university, or at a trade or vocational school.

Preference will be given to current well-rounded Boy Scout Eagle Scout Award recipients who have achieved strong academic results and exhibited leadership qualities while also devoting significant time and effort to Scouting.

Daniel Hoffmann Memorial Scholarship
Daniel Hoffmann was a long-time Lakeway resident whose kids grew up in our schools. His passions included swimming, fine arts and family.

This scholarship goes to a student with the following qualities:
  1. Hard working
  2. Participated on the LT Swim or LT Dive team for a minimum of 2 years
  3. Shows the ability to complete his/her college degree

Donna Wahl Memorial Scholarship
Donna Wahl was a 40-year educator who spent 17 years teaching at Lake Travis High School. At various times at LTHS, Donna taught Mathematics, served as the Math Department Chairperson, coached Cheerleading, and served as the Campus Technology Coordinator. As a parent, Donna served on the boards of the Cavalette and Band Booster Clubs. She was always full of school spirit and pride. She always had time for her students and fellow faculty members and tried to create and welcoming learning environment. Her greatest pride was being able to help students who had struggled with math to succeed and gain confidence in their ability.

This scholarship goes to a student:
  1. Who has participated in extracurricular activities, as a show of school pride and spirit.
  2. Who may have struggled academically, but who has found themselves and is now prepared to continue their future in college.
  3. Who has made the LT campus and community a better place for all students and faculty.

Dawlett Family Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a student pursuing a degree in Business.
Christopher Peeler Memorial Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a student who plans to study abroad their first semester of college.
Philip J Ewald Honorary Scholarship
This scholarship will be awarded to a student that plans to attend Lousiana Tech and plans to major in law/poli sci, or any science field. Student may also be attending University of Georgia or Texas A&M.
Lakeway Elementary PTO
Scholarship
This scholarship goes to a student with the following qualities:
  1. Exhibits a strong scholastic performance.
  2. Volunteers in the Lake Travis Community.
  3. Exhibits strong leadership skills.
  4. Embodies the Mustang Spirit.
  5. Attended Lakeway Elementary for 3+ years.

Rachel Spelman Memorial Scholarship
Rachel Spelman Memorial Scholarship Fund will continue to honor her legacy by selecting a Lake Travis ISD student that plans to attend Texas A&M University that exemplify Rachel’s outstanding leadership qualities, love for Texas A&M University, dedicated service to community and inspiring commitment to family and friends.

Hugh L. Wolff Career and Technical Education Scholarship
Hugh L. Wolff passed away in June 2020 at age 83. He began his career as a mechanic and Shell gas station operator. He went on to get advanced degrees and retired as an advertising executive and entrepreneur. He was very generous with his time and resources helping young people who could not otherwise get a break. He also initiated Holiday events, which have since become traditions, in Palm Desert CA benefiting Marines and their families serving at 29 Palms base.

Hugh L. Wolff Career and Technical Education Scholarship preference will be given to a student who:
  1. Plans to attend a career/technical trade school or community college to pursue associate degree in a Career & Technical Education field
  2. Minimum of 3 CTE courses in the same career cluster
  3. Displays leadership in at least one CTE Program
  4. Hard working
  5. Academics are important but not paramount
  6. Exhibits character & integrity
  7. Helpful to others

Colin Holst "Best Day Ever" Scholarship
Colin Holst was born on September 2, 2003 in Austin Texas. Colin was a happy and energetic toddler who loved to run and swim. Colin loved to annouce after a particularly good day with his friends or his family that it was his "Best Day Ever!" And every best day was soon followed by another. Life changed forever when Colin drowned at the young age of 4. Fueled by their desire to prevent another tragedy from happening, his family founded Colin's Hope to promote water safety in their community and educate children, parents, and lifeguards on drowning prevention. Colin continues to guide them every step of the way.

This Scholarship will be awarded to a student who:

1. Has balanced their school commitments along with their passion for making a positive impact on their classmates and/or community.
2. Can articulate how their actions have positively impacted others.

LTEF Alumni Scholarship
LTEF is proud to be partnering with Lake Travis ISD in the LT Alumni & Friends Program, which is facilitating the LTEF Alumni Scholarship. The LTEF Alumni Scholarship goes to a student who exhibits strong academic performance, community service and leadership, and embodies the Lake Travis spirit both at Lake Travis High School and within the greater community.

LTEF Women’s Leadership Scholarship
LTEF was excited to host the LTEF Butterfly Brunch again this past year, with a reimagined focus on empowering the next generation of young female leaders, and a portion of the funds raised at the event funded this scholarship. LTEF awards the LTEF Women's LeadershipScholarship to a female student who has exhibited strong leadership skills, participating in clubs and/or extracurricular activities, and volunteering in the community.

Lake Travis Cavalier Band Scholarship
The scholarship goes to a student who:
Is a Lake Travis High School Senior who has been an active full-time member of the LTHS Cavalier Band (or Color Guard), during all four years of high school.
This student has a strong work ethic and exhibits high academic performance, placing in the top 25% of their high school class. This student has also served in band leadership for at least one year (possibly their Senior year).
This student exhibits a heart of service, may have a part time job, and balances their schoolwork with band, service to others, and other responsibilities.
The student expects to further their education by attending a college, university, or vocational/technical school after graduation from high school.

In honoring our father's memory, this scholarship will not only reflect his love of learning, but also serve as a reminder of his resilience, generousity and unwavering support of others.
He believed that education and compassion can change lives, and it is out hope that this scholarship continues his legacy by supporting individuals who strive to learn, grow, and help others.

1. Continuous Learning: Provide an example of hardship endured and overcome.
2. Positive Impression on Others: Provide an example of 'How I stepped in to aid someone in a challenging moment.'
3. High Education Lessons: Tell us how you maintained balanced, or learned to prioritize education and learning.

No required GPA. Accepted to any University, Trade School, Community College in the states Texas, Florida, or Ohio.
